Celebrating our 5 Year Anniversary at 5 Local Places

Can’t believe we have been married for 5 years!

Five years?! Five years went by fast. Five years married to my best friend.

How did we start going to wineries?

Five years ago, when I (Hannah) first moved to Wichita after we got married, our friend Maddie who was working at Grace Hill Winery messaged us and said “If you bring me dinner, I’ll give you a free tasting.” At the time, I had never really drank. I went to a super Christian school that didn’t allow alcohol even if you were over 21. Kyle wasn’t a wine drinker at all. He loved craft breweries, but at the time he never found a wine he liked or ever went out of his way for them. Long story short, we went, had a tasting, picked up the Kansas Wine Passport, and the rest is history!

Fast forward five years…

In true Crickman fashion, we celebrated at 5 local places. Four were new to us and our last stop was a fan favorite.

First Stop: Good Company Taps & Spirits

We kicked off the weekend Friday night at Good Company Taps & Spirits, located inside Revolutsia, a shipping container park in Wichita, KS.

This was the first time we visited this place and I’m so glad we did. Drinks were great, bartender was hilarious and gave us each a glass of champaign because we were celebrating our anniversary, and if you are from Chicago area like us, they have a lot of Malort.

We did not have Malort though, didn’t want to ruin the night. iykyk

The place is small so wouldn’t recommend a huge party. But it’s so cute and perfect for a date night and their menu changes with the seasons.

Stop #2: Serendipity Farm & Vine

Coffee & Butterfly Garden

Our tasting flights

Saturday Kyle had to work. So our adventures continued Sunday morning when we woke up bright and early to head to Serendipity Farm and Vine, located in Stillwell, KS, almost 3 hours away from Wichita in the Kansas City area. The main building is an old barn that they have fixed up and turned into a coffee shop, tasting room, and stables with couches that are available to rent for your party.

We got there around 10am to visit their coffee shop “Serendipity’s Daily Grind” to try before the winery opened at 11am. This was perfect for us because the property is huge, with a beautiful butterfly garden to walk around, farm animals, and a winery pup named Riesling.

(Side note: if you and a few friends want to stay the night, they have a “She Shed” for rent with 4 bedrooms - think Airbnb)

Stop #3: KC Wine Co

The Barrel Room

Tasting Flight

KC Wine Co has been on our radar for a while and we were finally able to stop in.

At first we were very overwhelmed and had no idea where to go. But the staff was very helpful! Apparently it was KC Jurassic Farm at their Pumpkin Patch that weekend and families were everywhere to visit it. Now we know this place is very family friendly!

They pointed us in the right direction for just wine tastings to “The Barrel Room,” pictured above. They had wine, beer, and ciders available for tasting. Kyle did the dry flight and I did the sweet, however, they were out of the Moscato when we visited and I was sad about that. But we did our tasting, had some lunch there, and headed to the next winery on our list for the day.

We have plans to go back October 1st for their Pumpkin Farm and to try more!

Stop #4: Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery

Tastings

Winery Pup came running to greet us

Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery is a family owned winery located in Olathe, KS. The owner is the 5th generation to farm on his family’s land and even has the original deed to the land framed on the wall of the tasting room, dated from 1864! Also two winery pups on the property. 10/10 will pet them again.

Stone Pillar has a variety of wines including fruit wine, slushies, mocktails and ciders.

It was packed outside with a band the first day we went. We found an empty picnic table located in the middle of the vineyard that was kinda on it’s own for us to hang out, but close enough to hear the music. It was a perfect spot for the two of us.

Wine wise - I bought a bottle of their Blackberry Wine that day. We have since gone back to visit Stone Pillar. For 4th of July they had bomb pop wine slushies!

Last stop: Belvoir Winery & Inn - Our favorite haunted winery! Happy Anniversary to us!

Blog post for Belvoir coming Oct 18! We are doing a Paranormal Investigation there this spooky season!
